CVE-2020-5344

critical 9.8CVSS 3.1 · published 2020-03-31 · modified 2026-06-17

Dell EMC iDRAC7, iDRAC8 and iDRAC9 versions prior to 2.65.65.65, 2.70.70.70, 4.00.00.00 contain a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability. An unauthenticated remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to crash the affected process or execute arbitrary code on the system by sending specially crafted input data.

Affected versions (NVD)

ProductVersions
idrac7_firmware< 2.65.65.65
idrac8_firmware< 2.70.70.70
idrac9_firmware< 4.00.00.00

What to do

NVD marks firmware before these versions as affected: idrac7_firmware before 2.65.65.65; idrac8_firmware before 2.70.70.70; idrac9_firmware before 4.00.00.00. The usual fix is to update to that version or later. Vendors patch each firmware branch separately, so confirm the fixed build for your branch in the advisory.

How this page decided
Severity and CVSS: the primary NVD score (version 3.1). Affected versions: the CPE ranges in the NVD record, modified 2026-06-17. Exploited: the CISA KEV field of the NVD record. Whether you are affected needs your firmware version; this page does not know it. It is not tested against a device.

Do you run it?

Paste your BMC's Redfish answers into the Redfish Inspector: it compares the firmware version with the NVD ranges, in your browser. Or scan every BMC with the free scan.
